Games with friends

Browser games to play with friends, in the same room

Rooftop is 3D rooms in the browser. A Sirocco room has a checkers table, a Pong arcade, a well to fish in and a piano, and anyone can take out their guitar. You play one against one or each on your own; those not playing watch and talk about it out loud. Free, nothing to install, a name is enough.

A Sirocco room in Rooftop: two players at the checkers table, the board open in front of the one to move, the well beside the table, the guitar's key 8 at the bottom of the screen.
A capture of the game, in a Sirocco room: Maya and Léo play checkers. Beside their table, the well where you fish; at the bottom, the guitar on key 8.

Playing together, in three moves

  1. 1

Walk in with a name, make your room

At the game's door, “Enter as a guest”: a name is enough. Then “Create my room”, in Sirocco: all four games are there. The room is private by default, with its link to send.

  2. 2

Send the link to your friends

Whoever opens it picks a name, nothing else, arrives beside you and becomes your friend. The room has its voice and its chat: up to 15 people in the voice.

  3. 3

Walk up to a game, press E

At the arcade or at the edge of the well, E starts the game. At the checkers table and the piano, E sits you down, and the board or the keyboard opens in front of you.

The games, and how many play each

  • Checkers, two players: the table has three stools, two to play, one to watch. The international game on 100 squares, with clocks and a leaderboard, and the whole room can follow the game through the “Watch” chip.
  • Pong, two players, or one against the computer: each at one of the arcade's controls. First to 7 points. You play with the keyboard, ↑ ↓, or with the mouse over the game's screen. The others follow the game on the arcade's own screen, or through the “Watch” chip.
  • Fishing, each with their own rod, at the edge of the well: Space or the button casts, and when a fish bites, strike quickly. Too soon, it swims off; too late, it gets away. Eight possible catches, from an old boot to the Nexus shard, one catch in 100. Every catch shows to the others in the room, with its size, and your book keeps every species, how many you caught and your biggest.
  • The piano, one player on its bench: an octave and a half, C to F, on the middle row of the keyboard, the black keys on the row above, or with the mouse. The room hears your notes from the bench, held as long as you hold them.
  • The guitar, everyone their own: in a room, key 8 takes it out, and 1 to 6 play its six notes, D to B. The room hears it, louder up close.
  • A room is private by default: people enter by your link, or by joining a friend who is inside.

Which room for which games?

The mood is chosen when you create the room. Sirocco has all four games: the checkers table, the Pong arcade, the well and the piano. Sylve has the checkers table and the piano, Néon the well. The guitar comes out in any room.

Frequent questions

Which games are there?
Four, in the rooms: checkers, Pong, fishing and the piano, plus a guitar everyone takes out when they like. Rooftop is a room where friends meet, with a few games in it, not a catalogue of games.
Can I play alone?
At Pong, yes: the computer holds the other paddle, and a friend who steps up to the other control takes its place. Fishing, the piano and the guitar play alone too. At checkers, no: two seated players are needed, there is no computer across the table.
Do my friends need an account?
No. They open your link and pick a name.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Rooftop plays in a web page: no extension, no app.
Is it free?
Yes. Rooftop is free, in the browser. The shop sells extra room moods, nothing else.
